My Story

In all her work Jasmine is mostly inspired by nature itself, wild nature and human nature. Human’s history is a great source of inspiration and so is our fantastical imagination with it’s mermaids, wizards, fairies and other mythical and fantasy beings.

She is self taught, but always pursuing new avenues to develop new techniques and perfect the ones already acquired. She has been an artist has been an artist her whole life, started at a tender age of 6 yrs old winning school art contest and shows in beautiful Quebec Canada. She has also won awards in art shows and exhibitions over the years both in Canada and the US. For 50+ yrs now she has delighted in expressing herself through art. As she conceives her masterpieces she strives to portray surrounding natural beauty, human history, achievements, emotions and humankind’s uncanny imagination.

She spent years in Haiti caring for children of all ages, including the rejected newborns left on her doorstep. Living day by day in the constant struggle trying to alleviate their suffering from poverty caused by natural disasters, governmental and social collapse. As a result, one of her daughters came from among those beautiful babies. And 24 others found solace amongst embracing families. She continue to walk this philanthropic avenue through the selling of her art of which 5% of all proceeds is given to better the life of an impoverished child somewhere in this beautiful world we call earth. Thank you for being a part of her never ceasing effort.

What follow are the thoughts of an artist, fan and awesome writer. She's also Jasmine's daughter and she writes all of the descriptions that accompanies her work.

Art, in all it’s diversity, is a vast highway of expression. The artist conveys emotion, captivates the audience in a thought provoking trance, offers an escape from the mundane, a soothing hypnosis or simply provides entertainment and temporary distraction with a moment of pleasure. Through each masterpiece, the artist infuses part of themselves into his or her work to reflect their own feelings, philosophy or concept. From history, to present day, what could be, the unseen and beyond reality, each finished artwork has a distinct and individual journey waiting to be experienced. Many times one can truly connect with the artist’s mood or introduced outlook in the art, but there’s often occasion for a person to take liberties of interpretation in the presented piece. Whatever the case, our world of art is a fascinating outlet for communication and connection.

Jasmine Martinson, driven by her artistic mind and love for nature, channels her creativity into art inspired by the outdoors. She blends human life with natural elements, often incorporating materials found during hikes or beach strolls. Jasmine’s work celebrates the beauty of our planet, inviting viewers to reconnect with nature and find inspiration in its treasures. Rejecting negativity, she focuses on memorializing nature’s wonders, encouraging us to pause and appreciate life’s small joys.

My creation process

I love to imagine, design and plan every piece. I find inspiration all around and in everything , sometimes in a picture, a person, a place, an emotion or an event. Then slowly though the planning of the composition and the process of deciding the best surface, the design takes form. Then comes the time to apply the medias. Some of my work is done in oils only, others just acrylics. In some, acrylics , oils, inks, charcoals, gold leaf and more will have turns depending on the mood and inspiration of the moment. Giving way to experimenting different techniques and adding details, I use everything and anything that fits the immediate purpose when creating some of my masterpieces. I believe in liberties of creativity and thus allow no constriction of any kind in my studio. Anything that comes to mind shall be allowed.
