My Story

“When we’re growing up there are all sorts of people telling us what to do when really what we need is space to work out who to be.” - Elliot Page

I am an eclectic, self-taught artist whose work is deeply inspired by the beauty and complexity of both wild nature and human nature. The wonders of history, along with the boundless realms of imagination — where mermaids, wizards, fairies, and other mythical beings dwell — often find their way into my creations.

My artistic journey began at the tender age of six in beautiful Quebec, Canada, when I won my first school art contests and shows. Over the years, I have been honored with awards in exhibitions across both Canada and the United States. For more than fifty years, art has been my constant — a way to express the natural beauty I see around me, the depth of human emotion, and the marvel of our shared history and imagination.

I work with mixed media, blending techniques I have acquired and continually refined through decades of practice, always seeking new avenues to grow. My current portfolio ranges in size from intimate 14×14 pieces to expansive 36×48 works. Every painting is accompanied by an original poem, carefully crafted to echo its emotion and story. These poems are printed on 8×5.5-inch cards, inseparable from the artwork, and are delivered alongside each piece when it is displayed or sold.

Beyond my studio, my life has been shaped by profound experiences. I spent years in Haiti caring for children of all ages, including newborns left abandoned on my doorstep. Through love, faith, and perseverance, I helped many find healing and hope — one of those children became my daughter, and twenty-four others were embraced by loving families.

Today, I continue to walk this philanthropic path. Five percent of every artwork sale is donated to help improve the life of an impoverished child somewhere in this world we all share. Each piece I create is more than just an image — it’s a story, a feeling, and a contribution toward something greater.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, for supporting my art, and for becoming a part of my never-ceasing effort to bring beauty, hope, and compassion into the world.

What follow are the thoughts of an artist, fan and awesome writer.

Art, in all it’s diversity, is a vast highway of expression. The artist conveys emotion, captivates the audience in a thought provoking trance, offers an escape from the mundane, a soothing hypnosis or simply provides entertainment and temporary distraction with a moment of pleasure. Through each masterpiece, the artist infuses part of themselves into his or her work to reflect their own feelings, philosophy or concept. From history, to present day, what could be, the unseen and beyond reality, each finished artwork has a distinct and individual journey waiting to be experienced. Many times one can truly connect with the artist’s mood or introduced outlook in the art, but there’s often occasion for a person to take liberties of interpretation in the presented piece. Whatever the case, our world of art is a fascinating outlet for communication and connection.

My creation process

Every creation begins with a spark — a vision that dances in my mind before it ever touches a canvas. Inspiration finds me everywhere: in the curve of a shoreline, the expression on a stranger’s face, the hush of twilight, a fleeting emotion, or a moment in history. From there, I imagine, design, and plan, allowing the composition to take shape in my thoughts before my hands bring it to life.

I choose each surface with care, knowing it will become the foundation for the journey ahead. Sometimes the work calls for the richness of oils, other times the versatility of acrylics. Often, I invite a chorus of mediums to join the dance — acrylics, oils, inks, charcoals, gold leaf, and more — each stepping in when the mood or inspiration commands.

Experimentation is at the heart of my studio. I welcome the unexpected, layering techniques, textures, and details until the piece sings in its own voice. There are no rules here, no walls to creativity — only the freedom to follow inspiration wherever it leads. In this space, anything is possible, and everything that comes to mind is given permission to exist.
